The Armenian Genocide: Islam’s greatest slaughter of Christians….

Today, April 24, marks the “Great Crime,” that is, the genocide of Christians—mostly Armenians but also Assyrians—that took place under the Islamic Ottoman Empire throughout World War I. Then, the Turks liquidated approximately 1.5 million Armenians and 300,000 Assyrians.

Most objective American historians who have studied the question unequivocally agree that it was a deliberate, calculated genocide:

More than one million Armenians perished as the result of execution, starvation, disease, the harsh environment, and physical abuse. A people who lived in eastern Turkey for nearly 3,000 years [more than double the amount of time the invading Islamic Turks had occupied Anatolia, now known as “Turkey”] lost its homeland and was profoundly decimated in the first large-scale genocide of the twentieth century. At the beginning of 1915 there were some two million Armenians within Turkey; today there are fewer than 60,000…. Despite the vast amount of evidence that points to the historical reality of the Armenian Genocide, eyewitness accounts, official archives, photographic evidence, the reports of diplomats, and the testimony of survivors, denial of the Armenian Genocide by successive regimes in Turkey has gone on from 1915 to the present.[…]

There were massive death marches.

There were concentration camps. There was starvation. There was torture. There were firing squads.

There were executions. There were beheadings. There were crucifixions. There was the extermination of millions of Armenian men, women, and children spanning from 1914-15, and carried out by Turkey …

And it was religion/ideology-driven genocide that, to this day, has its own set of deniers including Turkey and Turkey’s government today who insist it did not happen because Muslims are not capable of such things. Hitler allegedly claimed he could get away with his Jewish Holocaust twenty years later in WWII because Turkey had gotten away with theirs in WWI…

(WSJ) – Pope Francis described the 1915 mass killings of Armenians by Turks as the “first genocide of the 20th century” on Sunday, touching off a diplomatic furor with Turkey and entering into a tense historical debate with wider implications for the Vatican’s relations with Islam.

Turkey, which has long rejected the term genocide to describe the killings, swiftly called its ambassador to the Vatican back to Ankara for consultations after the pope’s remarks. Turkey’s foreign ministry also summoned the Vatican’s envoy to Ankara, informing him that the government was “disappointed and saddened” by the pontiff’s comments, according to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency.

The pope, speaking at a mass in St. Peter’s Basilica to mark the 100 years since the killings, addressed the massacres in the context of the contemporary persecution of Christians in the Muslim world. That subject has become an increasingly pressing theme for Pope Francis—who, before becoming pontiff, had close ties to Buenos Aires’s overwhelmingly Christian Armenian community.

Even as he has continued to call for better relations between Catholicism and Islam, the pope has urged Muslim leaders to denounce the actions of extremists and pushed Christians of different churches to stand together in the face of anti-Christian violence.

The pope’s statement is a boost for Armenia’s decadeslong campaign to define the killings as genocide, as well as a setback for Turkey’s efforts to fend off the accusations of systematic killing.

Armenians—the vast majority of whom are Christians—say that as many as 1.5 million Armenians were systematically killed during World War I in today’s eastern Turkey, which was then part of the Ottoman Empire.

A number of countries officially recognize the killings as genocide. But Turkey contests Armenian claims about the scale of losses; it argues that hundreds of thousands actually died in warfare and famine, and that many Turks were also killed by Armenians. Turkey argues that the question of genocide should be left to historians rather than politicians.

Pope Francis said Sunday that “it is necessary, and indeed a duty,” to “recall the centenary of that tragic event, that immense and senseless slaughter whose cruelty your forbears had to endure…Concealing or denying evil is like allowing a wound to keep bleeding without bandaging it.”

Turkey accused the Vatican of using history for political aims: by singling out Armenians and not mentioning all lost lives in Anatolia during World War I. Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said the comments were “not fitting of the Pope.”

“The Pope’s declaration, divorced from historical and legal facts, is unacceptable. Religious posts are not positions to stoke hatred and grudges on baseless claims,” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a message from his official Twitter account.

The Armenian Genocide and my grandmother’s secret

Decades ago when I was very young, my grandmother, Mary Kupelian, told me a haunting story I’ve wondered about ever since.

As I sat in the kitchen of her cozy little home in Bethesda, Maryland, eating her delicious homemade bread and talking about a frequent topic – the Armenian Genocide, which she and my dad (as a little boy) had barely survived – she shared with me the following enigma.

A people killed twice

It is the forgotten 20th-century catastrophe. In 1915, under cover of world war, Ottoman Turks wiped out a third of the Armenian population. To this day, Turkey denies blame – and, behind it, Britain stands firm among a dwindling band of nations that fail to acknowledge the massacres were genocide

Welcome to the party, pal!

Better late than never, I guess…

Twitter used to be interesting. I signed up a decade ago and quickly became addicted. You could meet smart people with similar interests, funny people with disturbing interests, and get breaking news a day before the cable nets got around to it.

A lot has changed in 10 years. Today, Twitter is mostly dumb people yelling at each other and self-appointed hall monitors trying to shut down accounts they don’t follow. On Saturday, feminist Meghan Murphy was permanently banned for stating that men aren’t women. Sunday, conservative commentator Jesse Kelly was permanently banned for … who knows? Twitter gave no explanation. In response, ur-blogger Instapundit deactivated his account and others are likely to follow.

With every dead account, Twitter gets a little less interesting. And since the social media site hasn’t been very interesting for years, that’s something CEO Jack Dorsey can little afford. There’s an obvious anti-conservative bias at play — most of the big names are booted for disagreeing with leftist narratives. Meanwhile, charmers like Louis Farrakhan say whatever they want.

Perhaps in a few years, everyone on the site can agree with each other about everything. Problem for Twitter is, there’ll only be a dozen members.

I’ve considered deleting my Twitter account a few times in the past year. Instead, I just spend less time there. I’ll tweet a joke or two, toss in a couple of links, then disappear for a few days. Sometimes, a few weeks. Then I enjoy real life, whether reading, writing, or hanging out with friends and family. (I also enjoy napping.)

Hopefully, Twitter will restore Murphy and Kelly’s accounts soon and Instapundit will return. But for their sakes, it might be better if they don’t. Real life is a lot more interesting than a dying social media service. […]

Liberal Tolerance 2.0: Kill The Republicans

Not to worry.
It’s all good.
He’s a democrat.
He’ll get away with it.

The Detroit Free Press editorial page editor Stephen Henderson, Pulitzer Prize winner, is apparently beyond pissed off at the state’s republican legislatures over a recent vote concerning public school funding vs. charter school funding…

(The Federalist) – The reason? The lawmakers voted for legislation that would give parents more choices to avoid Michigan’s failing public schools. Detroit’s public schools are failing academically and nearly insolvent, the New York Times wrote in January. The Detroit News wrote in March that “the statewide opinion of K-12 education is downright ugly.” That poll showed residents didn’t think throwing money at public-union-controlled schools was the answer, with 63 percent saying it takes more than money to improve education.

While teacher unions and the politicians whom they support fight many changes to the educational system that give parents more leverage, charter schools have been making a difference in educational outcomes…

Yesterday Michigan’s Republican legislators voted to bail out Detroit’s abysmally run schools with $617 million in taxpayer funding. The same bill also fought efforts to constrain charter school choices in Detroit. Prior to the vote, Stephen Henderson wrote on his editorial page:

“We really ought to round up the lawmakers who took money to protect and perpetuate the failing charter-school experiment in Detroit, sew them into burlap sacks with rabid animals, and toss them into the Straits of Mackinac.”

After noting that charter school advocates support charter schools, he doubled down on the violent rhetoric:

“It is every bit deserving of an old-school retributive response.
A sack. An animal. A lake.

No lover of actual democracy could weep at that outcome.”

But the big question to push in Henderson’s smug face when you bump into him today at the sidewalk hotdog cart, especially if you are one of these parents, is, “Okay, so, you want the same fascistic politically-driven punishment for us too, Comrade Henderson?”

The publication Henderson works/writes for is ironically called the Detroit Free Press and oddly enough the title of his bloodthirsty editorial missive: “Michigan House’s Detroit schools bills are pure garbage, not about kids” is in and of itself deeply ironic, given Henderson no doubt strongly supports the teachers union(s) dictated public school system and this is what the unions really feel is their primary concern:

I Violently Protested a Trump Rally in Chi-town and all I got was this Lousy Brown-shirt…

Don’t ya just love socialists and anarchists? They scream for freedom, freedom of speech, free shit … But they instinctively and violently pounce on the freedom of others in order to shut up opposition and debate. If you are not watching what is going on, and listening to the MSM’s editorializing reaction(s) to what’s happening, you are not fully aware of this pattern. No, Trump is not “Hitler”. The hardcore fascism is coming from the bloodthirsty communists in this country fighting to push us into the next stage of radical fascism with one of their democrat contenders who is worthy of taking the throne from Barack Obama.

An eyewitness reports what he experienced, and given some of his points it sounds as if the police working the rally appear to have decided on some weird ‘safety in numbers’ procedures. I mean, let’s not forget who is the mayor of Chicago…

One entire bleacher row was filled with protesters and they began chanting and throwing around torn up signs.

A few people who began standing up and screaming, and were slowly escorted out by police. The police kept leaving the protesters unattended throughout this, taking 4-8 officers to escort protesters out one at a time.

A black man in a black jacket ran up to the front stage, bumped into the podium, and attempted to speak, but was wrestled down by two men in suits. As they escorted him through the crowd, he took a swing at a Trump supporter. The men escorting him were incredibly gentle and restrained themselves from using any force.

Many of Trump propaganda signs, most commonly depicting him as Adolf Hitler, but others showing him with a small penis, simple signs of text English and Spanish, signs.

Young women shouting anti-white racial epithets.

“THE PEOPLE ARE UNITED. WE WILL NOT BE DIVIDED” being shouted at Trump supporters who holed themselves up in a parking garage, quietly fearing for their safety. Another good one by the protesters was “FREEDOM FIRST! FREEDOM FIRST!” Strangely enough, there were a good amount of signs calling for peace and freedom. Lots of peace signs being flashed with the fingers.

A single white Trump supporter who held up a sign and stood quietly as three dozen people surrounded him, smiling and screaming, snatching and pushing at him until he had to run for police cover. Someone grabbed his American flag and threw it on the ground and he fought to recover it. The police escorted him away.

Two young men, perhaps 17-19, standing quietly as they waited for a ride home. They were wearing their MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN hats, looking terrified as people cursed and swore at them, and occasionally threw furious challenges for debate. The two young men held their ground. Only once did one of those hats come down, and it quickly went back on again.

A general atmosphere of pleasure and happiness from the protesters. A common chant was “WE WON!” and “WE STOPPED* TRUMP!” It honestly felt like a social event for the protesters. There was plenty of mingling

Plenty of shouts at Trump protesters that Trump and his supporters are not welcome in Chicago. I challenged one on the first amendment. He said he does not consider himself an American and continued insulting the grizzled old white man he was arguing with.

Extremely inefficient police presence. The cops were lined up on their horses or standing behind barricades, but generally were not present where Trump supporters were being hounded and occasionally struck by protesters.

The protesters were primarily composed of millennial-aged: white hipsters, African Americans, Hispanics, and Muslims. Some of the protesters were teenagers below voting age.

The protesters flew a big set of American, Mexican, and Puerto Rican flags. There were lots of small American and Mexican flags too. *The Trump supporters mostly fled for safety immediately. You have to understand, they were outnumbered by thousands of protesters.

There was media presence, but not as much as you’d think. Plenty of areas where chaos was going on had no media nearby. The reporters were mostly getting people to talk to them off to the side where nothing was going on, or focusing ongoing debates between Trump supporters and rally members.

A small amount of the protesters were smoking weed. (I have nothing against this personally, just included for accuracy.)

Plenty of chants for “BERNIE! BERNIE! BERNIE!” Some Trump supporters looked at each other in bewilderment. “But Bernie Sanders isn’t even running against Donald Trump,” was the common sentiment.

Edit: The Trump supporters had a general trust for the police, while the protesters saw their presence as antagonistic. This is especially interesting to me, because as a foreigner and person of color I am generally afraid of police.

So, will Bernie Sanders come out on national TV and denounce and condemn those supporters involved in this mega breach of free speech and assembly?

This sort of massive organization takes money, you know…

Donald Trump was at a rally in Ohio today, and apparently the brown-shirts were organized and ready there too…

Secret Service Rushes Stage to Protect Donald Trump at Ohio Rally

A Donald Trump rally took a dramatic turn Saturday when a disturbance broke out behind him — causing Secret Service agents to jump on stage and form a wall around the candidate amid the commotion.

A campaign spokeswoman said that a man at the Dayton, Ohio, event “attempted to breach the secure buffer and was removed rapidly and professionally.”

The suspect was identified as Thomas Dimassimo, 32, and was charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic — both misdemeanors, Chief Mike Etter of the Dayton Airport Police Department told NBC News.

Dimassimo jumped the bike racks and tried to climb onto the stage, but was stopped by Secret Service stationed there, Etter said. He was being held at the Montgomery County jail in Dayton.

You can only take so many people into your boat before your own boat is hijacked … or sinks…

The Height of Political Kabuki Theater

Now, more than any other election cycle I can recall from my life, we are in full-Monty kabuki theater. At this point I am seriously ashamed and disgusted by this bullshit. When we started out with 2 full stages of very bright, articulate, and experienced candidates who could have filled an entire administration there was so much positive excitement and promise. It has been reduced to this bullshit, close to whipping out dicks on stage and see who wins the measurement and pissing contest. So disappointed in Marco taking the rotten bait from Trump and demeaning himself to this uncivil and embarrassing level.

As the GOP and democrat primaries grind-down more important points linger just beneath the waves of trash-talking and MSM shit-shoveling…

People keep insisting that if Donald Trump really does end up being the GOP nominee Hillary Clinton wins the general election. I’m not convinced of that, given the huge divide in the democrat party the MSM is not highlighting or reporting on. Just a few days ago the DNC’s vice-chair and Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard left her seat and endorsed socialist Bernie Sanders in spite of DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s months of conniving and manipulating of debates and such in favor of her good pal Hillary Clinton.

And for all the MSM’s giddy eagerness to claim the GOP is in such a mess, it is really very easy to see where the enthusiasm is this election cycle. Democrats in primary states are switching over to the republican party by the tens of thousands, some even in my area of a democrat party strangle-hold. However, is this a legit move by independent voters who are tired of the party-of-empty-promises they have voted for and are now seeing the light with, say, Donald Trump? Or is this some calculated measure to have people strategically swap parties (a la reverse “Operation Chaos 2008”) in the primary elections in order to get Trump the nomination because they believe Hillary or Bernie can beat him, more than the other GOP candidates, in the general election as they then mark-off the democrat nominee on their ballot? Hmmm?

Meanwhile, More women voted Republican than Democratic on Super Tuesday

Over these last few months I have seen my conservative/republican brothers and sisters split rigidly and defiantly between the wide field of GOP candidates, especially with Trump, Rubio, and Cruz. And even though they are unabashedly vocal and loyal to their guy, none are fearful of letting anyone and everyone know where their vote is going. I have tried very hard to be evenhanded in my presenting the GOP candidates in pros and cons articles here and on social media. Yes, I truly believe Ted Cruz is the candidate that we absolutely need to take the wheel of this drain-spinning country, but I am also on record … especially when asked “What if it’s Trump?!?” … as insisting I will not, on election day in November, stay home and give the election to Hillary or Bernie by default with my lack of vote. Nor will I vote third party. I have prayed on this and I feel it is how I must do it … I will support the GOP nominee in the end. And it really is far from over…

Did Ted Cruz win quote of the night with this ‘KNOCK OUT’ punch(line) to Donald Trump? It’s already a GIF!

So far, Trump wins open primaries and Cruz wins closed … and the calendar is starting to change toward more closed primaries

Anyhow, unlike the current throngs of republicans clinging loudly to their guy, apparently liberal/leftist Hollywood is too frightened to be as publicly enthusiastic about their choice of avowed socialist Bernie Sanders, according to Bernie supporter actress Susan Sarandon

Susan Sarandon is claiming that Sen. Bernie Sanders has plenty of support in Hollywood, but some of those voices have been quiet recently.

“You know, there’s a lot of people I’ve talked to who are afraid,” the Oscar-winning actress, a staunch Sanders supporter, told The Hollywood Reporter.

The actress asserts that there are backers who “say ‘I am definitely supporting him, but I’m afraid to come out’ because either I am woman and I don’t want to get shamed — because that has been a big part of what the response has been — or they say, ‘I am just waiting to see what happens.'”

Sarandon added: “I understand [celebrities] who say they are waiting because you put yourself out there for [interviews] like this. And people, especially if you’re a woman, are making it very, very difficult.”

Soooo, what you’re saying is Hollywood is full of pantywaist cowards, Suzy? Thanks for finally agreeing with us. BTW, Suzy insinuates it’s Hillary they’re afraid of. Uh-huh. Cowards. But at her rapidly advancing age the whiny activist ginger must be a bit shy of over-zealousness for him so that she doesn’t lose those random movie rolls playing somebody’s hip grandmother. (See: “Tammy”) Not to worry, Suzy. George Clooney loves him some Hillary Clinton.

Donald Trump Gets AIDS In A New Movie, And That Has Studio Execs In A PanicAfraid of Trump’s reaction, they’re “subtly trying to make it disappear,” says an industry source. … Cowards. Well, Clooney doesn’t give two-fucks when bashing Trump: “He’s just an opportunist. Now he’s a fascist; a xenophobic fascist.”

I don’t know … are there anymore GOP debates scheduled before this primary is over? Because I have made a point of not watching the last couple. I’ll pick-up my interest in the general election debates. And if Trump really is the GOP nominee he had better come armed with some good solid rebuttal to a Hillary/Bernie socialist talking-points salvo…

During the Clinton administration our foes around the world, but especially in the Middle East, viewed our strength and convictions as a paper tiger. Here in Obama’s anti-America, anti-colonial era he has made sure to weaken the U.S. military and purposely reduce the U.S. standing in the world as exactly that, a paper tiger. We see it in our friends and allies, and now our foes are feeling a boldness they have not felt in past decades of the last century…
