I just want one that works like in the good ole’ days…

The liberal director of the amazingly unfunny movie ‘Anchorman’ starring the incredibly unfunny and highly overrated Will Ferrell says that conservatives want “solid diamond toilets.”

He’s incorrect.

I just want one that works the way they used to before his leftist environmentalist wacko progressive dickhead regulators ruined them…

Asshole.

Knife control: it’s what’s for supper!

From a blog called “Maggie’s Notebook” — not our Maggie — comes this gem detailing the mission in the UK to ban knives. Liberal stupidity is universal…

First They Came For The Guns… And took them out of their hands in Great Britain.  They promised the population that they would be safe, that crime would reduce to almost nothing.  It didn’t happen.  In fact, crime increased.  Crime with knives increased.  So now they will ban the knife. […]

‘Laws Are for Little People’

The infamous Leona Helmsley, tax evader, convict, real estate mogul, and known by her appellation, the “Queen of Mean,” once famously declared that “we don’t pay taxes … only the little people pay taxes…” It seems this attitude is pervasive among a certain class of Americans who think they are entitled to be treated differently because they are “special.” Kinda like David Gregory. Mark Steyn writes:

[…] Anything involving guns is even less amenable to “obviousness.” A few years ago, Daniel Brown was detained at LAX while connecting to a Minneapolis flight because traces of gunpowder were found on his footwear. His footwear was combat boots. As the name suggests, the combat boots were returning from combat — eight months of it, in Iraq’s bloody and violent al-Anbar province. Above the boots he was wearing the uniform of a staff sergeant in the USMC Reserve Military Police and was accompanied by all 26 members of his unit, also in uniform. Staff Sergeant Brown doesn’t sound like an “obvious” terrorist. But the TSA put him on the no-fly list anyway. If it’s not “obvious” to the government that a serving member of the military has any legitimate reason for being around ammunition, why should it be “obvious” that a TV host has?

Three days after scofflaw Gregory committed his crime, a bail hearing was held in Massachusetts for Andrew Despres, 20, who’s charged with trespassing and possession of ammunition without a firearms license. Mr. Despres was recently expelled from Fitchburg State University and was returning to campus to pick up his stuff. Hence the trespassing charge. At the time of his arrest, he was wearing a “military-style ammunition belt.” Hence, the firearms charge.

His mom told WBZ that her son purchased the belt for $20 from a punk website and had worn it to class every day for two years as a “fashion statement.” He had no gun with which to fire the bullets. Nevertheless, Fitchburg police proudly displayed the $20 punk-website ammo belt as if they’d just raided the Fitchburg mafia’s armory, and an obliging judge ordered Mr. Despres held on $50,000 bail. Why should there be one law for Meet the Press and another for Meet Andrew Despres? Because David Gregory throws better cocktail parties? […]

We told you so, redux

This is nothing new, of course — back in October 2008 I linked to a superb essay on American Thinker detailing the history of this crisis — but it bears repeating since the lies and stupidity and hypocrisy of the psychotic Democrat liberal/”progressive”/socialists continues to bear fruit. The new study, once again, confirms that the economy was destroyed by Democrat policies.

A new study from the widely respected National Bureau of Economic Research released this week has confirmed beyond question that the left’s race-baiting attacks on the housing market (the Community Reinvestment Act — enacted under Carter, made shockingly more aggressive under Clinton) is directly responsible for imploding the housing market and destroying the economy.

The study painstakingly sorted through failed home loans that caused the housing market collapse and identified an overwhelming connection between them and CRA mortgages.

Again, let’s review:

  • President Bush went to Congress repeatedly for years warning them that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were going to destroy the economy (17 times in 2008 alone). Democrats continuously ignored him, shut down his proposals along party lines and continued raiding the institutions for campaign contributions on their way down.
  • John McCain also co-sponsored urgently critical reforms that would have prevented the housing market collapse, but Democrats shut that down as well, along party lines, and even openly ridiculed anyone who suggested reforms were necessary…to protect their taxpayer-funded campaign contributions as the economy raced uncontrollably toward the cliff.
  • No one was making bad loans to unqualified people until Democrats came along and threatened to drag banks into court and have them fined and branded as racists if they didn’t go along with the left’s Affirmative Action lending policies…all while federally insuring their losses. Even the New York Times warned in the late 1990s that Democrats continuing to force banks into lowering their standards would lead to this exact catastrophe.
  • Obama himself is even on the record personally helping sue one lender (Citibank) into lowering its lending standards to include people from extremely poor and unstable areas, which even one of the left’s favorite blatantly partisan “fact-checkers,” Snopes, admits (while pretending to ‘set the record straight’).
  • Even The New York Times admitted that there is “little evidence” of any connection between the “Republican” deregulation measures Obama blames, like the Gramm-Bleach-Liley Act (signed into law by a Democrat), and the collapse of the housing market.

But non-Fox media have spent years deliberately and relentlessly inoculating people against the facts, training them to mindlessly blame Bush for being in charge when Democrat policies destroyed the economy. So here we sit, to this day, still watching Obama excuse and shrug off endless economic failures, illegal government takeovers and utter national bankruptcy with zero accountability.

Death to climate change deniers!

So says a musicologist opining about the Incredible Flexible Theory®.

“The death penalty is an appropriate punishment for influential GW deniers …

“GW deniers … are already causing the deaths of hundreds of millions of future people. We could be speaking of billions, but I am making a conservative estimate …

“If a jury of suitably qualified scientists estimated that a given GW denier had already, with high probability (say 95%), caused the deaths of over one million future people, then s/he would be sentenced to death. The sentence would then be commuted to life imprisonment if the accused admitted their mistake, demonstrated genuine regret, AND participated significantly and positively over a long period in programs to reduce the effects of GW (from jail).” […]

Like I wrote last week, scratch a liberal…

Liberal arrogance?

You betcha!

David Gregory may have violated D.C.’s gun law — and, in my opinion, differing with Dr. Jacobson, he probably thought he was above the law when he did it. Liberal arrogance is nothing new…

I doubt David Gregory intended to violate D.C.’s ban on the possession or transfer of high capacity ammunition magazines when he waved around such a magazine during his interview of Wayne LaPierre yesterday.

Prior to yesterday, I never would have thought that possession of an empty magazine, kept separate from ammunition or a weapon, would violate the law, so I sympathize with Gregory on that point.

But I’m less sympathetic than you might expect because fear of unintentionally violating gun laws is one of the things that has kept me from purchasing a handgun. As you know, I took the NRA safety course over a year ago. But I’m a legal resident of Rhode Island who lives much of the year in New York, so there’s an issue of whether I could obtain a NY permit, which is needed even to keep a gun in the home. And then there’s the issue of transportation back and forth, and complying with the requirements to avoid prosecution as I pass through Massachusetts.

It all became such a bureaucratic jungle that I just deferred for the time being.

That’s where we are with many gun laws, the law-abiding responsible citizens who worry about compliance are scared away or risk prosecution for unknowing violations, while the lunatics and criminals don’t care. […]

Again. Wash, rinse, repeat: Criminals DON’T CARE about gun laws. Just ask the murdered citizens of that liberal/”progressive” bastion, Chicago, a city in a state with some of the most draconian gun laws in the nation…
