Liberal Tolerance 2.0: Kill The Republicans

Not to worry.
It’s all good.
He’s a democrat.
He’ll get away with it.

The Detroit Free Press editorial page editor Stephen Henderson, Pulitzer Prize winner, is apparently beyond pissed off at the state’s republican legislatures over a recent vote concerning public school funding vs. charter school funding…

(The Federalist) – The reason? The lawmakers voted for legislation that would give parents more choices to avoid Michigan’s failing public schools. Detroit’s public schools are failing academically and nearly insolvent, the New York Times wrote in January. The Detroit News wrote in March that “the statewide opinion of K-12 education is downright ugly.” That poll showed residents didn’t think throwing money at public-union-controlled schools was the answer, with 63 percent saying it takes more than money to improve education.

While teacher unions and the politicians whom they support fight many changes to the educational system that give parents more leverage, charter schools have been making a difference in educational outcomes…

[…]

Yesterday Michigan’s Republican legislators voted to bail out Detroit’s abysmally run schools with $617 million in taxpayer funding. The same bill also fought efforts to constrain charter school choices in Detroit. Prior to the vote, Stephen Henderson wrote on his editorial page:

“We really ought to round up the lawmakers who took money to protect and perpetuate the failing charter-school experiment in Detroit, sew them into burlap sacks with rabid animals, and toss them into the Straits of Mackinac.”

After noting that charter school advocates support charter schools, he doubled down on the violent rhetoric:

“It is every bit deserving of an old-school retributive response.
A sack. An animal. A lake.

No lover of actual democracy could weep at that outcome.”

But the big question to push in Henderson’s smug face when you bump into him today at the sidewalk hotdog cart, especially if you are one of these parents, is, “Okay, so, you want the same fascistic politically-driven punishment for us too, Comrade Henderson?”

The publication Henderson works/writes for is ironically called the Detroit Free Press and oddly enough the title of his bloodthirsty editorial missive: “Michigan House’s Detroit schools bills are pure garbage, not about kids” is in and of itself deeply ironic, given Henderson no doubt strongly supports the teachers union(s) dictated public school system and this is what the unions really feel is their primary concern:

Under the Gun: Katie Couric Busted Editing to Deceive in Her Gun Control Documentary

katie+couric+dancing

Well, she did spend a lot of her on air career working at NBC, the “edit” masters of television. Yes, NBC is very well known for their selective and deceptive editing touches to many stories they want(ed) to slant in their favored political agenda direction, or to make somebody look really bad…

(FOX News) – The makers of a new Katie Couric documentary on gun violence deceptively edited an interview between Couric and a group of gun rights activists in an apparent attempt to embarrass the activists, an audio recording of the full interview shows.

At the 21:48 mark of Under the Gun a scene of Katie Couric interviewing members of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a gun rights organization, is shown.

Couric can be heard in the interview asking activists from the group, “If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun?”

The documentary then shows the activists sitting silently for nine awkward seconds, unable to provide an answer. It then cuts to the next scene.

However, raw audio of the interview between Katie Couric and the activists provided to the Washington Free Beacon shows the scene was deceptively edited. Instead of silence, Couric’s question is met immediately with answers from the activists. A back and forth between a number of the league’s members and Couric over the issue of background checks proceeds for more than four minutes after the original question is asked…..

Only, there wasn’t a pregnant pause in silent answer to Couric’s question. Instead, there was a very well-informed and robust round of answers to her question with a lot of facts and information to dispute her premise that she obviously deliberately set-up for the editing. The raw audio is VERY, VERY damning of Couric…

The Washington Free Beacon has the full coverage here: Audio Shows Katie Couric Documentary Deceptively Edited Interview with Pro-Gun Activists

Since this hit the fan in the last couple days the people involved are trying hard to cover their asses and explain it away, but are failing (that is also covered in TWFB link under its updates).

Ed Morrissey @ HotAir isn’t taking any bait or buying any crap coming from the documentry’s producers who are urging him to “watch the film”

As Allahpundit already noted in an update, however, the cable channel that aired the documentary (EPIX) doesn’t seem to care about accuracy or honesty. They call the substitution of the actual answer for an unrelated response shot “creative and editorial judgment.” Apparently, Couric also chalks this up to the “creative” urge. The Yahoo News anchor issued a statement in support of Stephanie Soechtig: “I support Stephanie’s statement and am very proud of the film.”

Soechtig eventually offered this non-apology of the “I’m sorry that my brilliance was misunderstood” variety:

“There are a wide range of views expressed in the film. My intention was to provide a pause for the viewer to have a moment to consider this important question before presenting the facts on Americans’ opinions on background checks. I never intended to make anyone look bad and I apologize if anyone felt that way.”

[…]

Also, please note the irony of the documentary’s tag line: In the gun debate, truth is the ultimate weapon. Good Lord.

Yep, the liberal/leftist MSM has done a fantastic job of not only cooking its own goose these last over 8 years, but burning the Hell out of it.

And, Goebbels— er, Katie, if you’ve lost the very liberal/left WaPo and HuffPo you’ve really lost it:

Federal Decree to Colleges: Stop “Racist” Checking Criminal Background Checks

Obama-I-Have-A-Pen-460x306

Less than 7 months left of this leftist ‘deconstruct’ crap…

(Judicial Watch) – The Obama administration has ordered the nation’s colleges and universities to stop asking applicants about criminal and school disciplinary history because it discriminates against minorities. Institutions are also being asked to offer those with criminal records special support services such as counseling, mentoring and legal aid once enrolled. The government’s official term for these perspective students is “justice-involved individuals” and the new directive aims to remove barriers to higher education for the overwhelmingly minority population that’s had encounters with the law or disciplinary issues through high school.

Instructions are outlined in a cumbersome document (Beyond the Box) issued by the U.S Department of Education (ED) this month. It says that “data show plainly that people of color are more likely to come in contact with the justice system due, in part, to punitive school disciplinary policies that disproportionately impact certain student groups and racial profiling.” Because education can be a powerful pathway to transition out of prison and into the workforce, it’s critical to ensure that admissions practices don’t disproportionately disadvantage justice involved individuals, the directive states. Colleges and universities should also refrain from inquiring about a student’s school disciplinary history—including past academic dishonesty—because that too discriminates against minorities. Civil rights data compiled by ED show “black students are suspended and expelled at a rate three times greater than white students and often for the same types of infractions.”

Therefore colleges and universities should consider designing admissions policies that don’t include disciplinary history so they don’t have the “unjustified effect of discriminating against individuals on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion and disability,” the new ED guidelines state. Three out of four colleges and universities collect high school disciplinary information and 89% of those institutions use the information to make admissions decisions, according to the order. That needs to change, according to the administration. A few years ago it warned public elementary and high schools to administer student discipline without discriminating on the bases of race, color or national origin because too many minority students—especially blacks—were getting suspended. The feds assert they issued the directive after reports of “racial disparities” in “exclusionary discipline policies” that created a “school to prison pipeline.”

Colleges and universities are to take it a step further by offering students with criminal histories special support services…

So, colleges can no longer protect themselves and their students. Done.

And the SOB has now banned the word “criminals” and replaced it with “justice-involved individuals”, because shut-up: Obama doesn’t think rapists, armed robbers, drug dealers are criminals

It’s only May, but I think I’ve found the euphemism of the year: According to Team Obama, criminals should now be declared “justice-involved individuals.”

The neo-Orwellianism comes to us from the bizarre flurry of last-minute diktats, regulations and bone-chilling threats collectively known to fanboys as Obama’s Gorgeous Goodbye.

In another of those smiley-faced, but deeply sinister, “Dear Colleague” letters sent to universities and colleges this week, Obama’s Education Secretary John King discouraged colleges from asking applicants whether they were convicted criminals.

An accompanying pamphlet was called “Beyond the Box: Increasing Access to Higher Education for Justice-Involved Individuals.”

So rapists, burglars, armed robbers and drug dealers aren’t criminals anymore. These folks are simply “involved” with “justice,” according to Obamanoids.

But remember, there MUST be background checks to buy/own a firearm.
Perhaps if somebody made the claim such background checks were ‘racist’ that too would drop from the democrat/leftist lexicon…

Lessons in Liberal Hypocrisy, Deception, and Idiocy

leo-private-jet

Leo DiCaprio is so very concerned about the end of Earth due to ‘climate change’ disease, or something, that he insists we all reduce our carbon footprints with fossil fuel usage, and stop being so damn selfish ans self-centered, and lower our life’s expectations and … then he jumps a couple planes and flies over 8000 additional unnecessary miles

Leo DiCaprio picked up an environmental award in NYC this week — but hypocritically expanded his carbon footprint by 8,000 miles when he obtained the honor, by taking a private jet from Cannes, then flying straight back to France on another jet for a model-packed fund-raiser a night later.

DiCaprio was at the Cannes Film Festival this week, and was spotted there partying at club Gotha on Monday with model Georgia Fowler, then jetted back to New York for the Riverkeeper Fishermen’s Ball at Chelsea Piers on Wednesday, where he was honored by the clean-water advocacy group and Robert De Niro.

Just 24 hours later, DiCaprio reappeared back in France for amfAR’s glitzy Cinema Against AIDS gala, where he gave a speech.

DiCaprio’s foundation just pledged $15 million to environmental causes at this year’s World Economic Forum. And during his Oscar acceptance speech, he said, “Climate change is real. It is happening right now, it is the most urgent threat facing our entire species.”

But he’s also been slammed for his use of private jets and yachts. Environmental analyst Robert Rapier, who said the actor’s movie-star lifestyle “diminishes his moral authority to lecture others on reducing their own carbon emissions,” told us of DiCaprio’s latest trips…

[…]

His publicist’s excuse says Leo didn’t charter any flights, but simply “hitched” rides with people already going that way, so, you know, it’s all good. Um, that doesn’t smack of reduced ‘fossil fuel’ dedication. That’s like saying, “Hey, I didn’t buy the drugs, I just used somebody else’s”. It is a very lame rationalization that falls very flat for the jet-setting playboy who demands better from the rest of us. Oh, and his millions of donated dollars does not erase his carbon footprint. This whole pyramid sceme mentality of the ‘climate change’ hoax cult is more and more total bullshit. He’s not getting away with it: ‘Do as I say not as I do’: Leonardo DiCaprio *serious about #ActOnClimate (*UNLESS he’s got an award to accept)

Then there is this mentally warped dame who claims she’s an “artist”…

sophie-hewson

An Australian artist has filmed herself having un-simulated sex with a stranger in a so-called ‘rape representation’ to encourage debate on the patriarchal nature of sexual violence.

Sophia Hewson – who arranged and choreographed the three-minute piece called Untitled (“are you ok bob?”) – invited the man to her home in New York to record the video.

Throughout the scene the focus is on Miss Hewson’s face as she looks towards the camera, and only the arms of ‘Bob’ – the man’s pseudonym – can be seen.

“The raped woman is nearly always depicted with her face downcast and her eyes averted,” she explained in a statement on her website.

“The most confronting aspect of Untitled (“are you ok bob?”), isn’t watching as a woman is struck or penetrated, it’s seeing her look back out at us from the experience.

“Caught in her gaze, the viewer is not only forced to bear witness to her subjectivity, but implicated in her desolation.”

The work of the 31-year-old artist, who was born in Cambridge, UK, but is now based in Melbourne, Sydney, has often explored the relationship between female objectification and the role of male power.

She says her latest work is “conceptually challenging” as it “threatens our assumption that man’s power is unsurmountable”.

She also said she wanted to highlight the idea that rape is “more than an unwanted sexual act, that it is the foundation for the entire institution of the patriarchy, and hence it is the crucial battleground for dismantling male power”….

Who, exactly, is “in power” here, really? I mean, she planned the event, invited the guy over, arranged, set-up, choreographed (which means she told him exactly what he had to do and when), and then willing participated in ‘her’ staged coitus with this guy. This “artwork” is a total bullshit lie, and if she ‘wins’ any awards for it they are all complicit in the lie. And she cannot, after all her ‘hard word’ claim that in her head she was saying “no”, or whatever excuse she would use to imply it wasn’t consensual on her part. We’re supposed to see ‘her’ version of the ‘truth’ in her glaring face? Nah, I don’t think so. I look and I see smugness and defiance. This sounds and looks like a really bad “ripped from the headlines” Law and Order: SVU episode.

Venezuela is a Ticking Nuke…

venezuela streets

Let us be very, very crystal clear … There was NO ‘Cuba-like’ U.S. embargo of Venezuela. As with Cuba, socialism/communism is completely responsible for this dire collapse and starvation of Venezuela’s society. And one candidate currently running for POTUS (and his loyal staunch supporters) is using the floundering leftist South American country as one of the socialist templates for how he believes the United States should be, completely and purposely ignoring the cold hard facts and reality. Think about that as you scan and click on the headlines below and read this personal account of a Venezuelan living here in the U.S., watching and worrying from afar as his family and friends still living down there are helplessly and hopelessly experiencing the horror firsthand:

The Pain of Watching Your Country Fall Apart:

It’s a terrible thing to watch the country of your birth slowly tear itself apart in an unwavering death march. That place which first welcomed my half-opened infant eyes is no longer the one I knew, nor the one from the stories I have heard.

I am not talking about the suffering of Syria or the plight of Ukraine, though tragic their stories are. The pain and torment which affects me and tens of millions of others is occurring in the South American nation of Venezuela, one which has tightened the noose around its neck over the last two decades with bad policy after bad policy.

[…]

Every single friend and family member who I know in or who at one point lived in Venezuela has either been robbed, assaulted, kidnapped, shot, or murdered. My grandfather was rammed in the chest by the barrel of a gun for his gold-chained necklace. My uncle’s new car was stolen the day he bought it as he entered the gated parking of his apartment building. My godfather’s ex-wife has gone through three kidnappings, with shots being fired into her car during the last attack.

An iPhone or any accessory more luxurious than a Mickey Mouse watch is an invitation for robbery. Thugs on motorcycles lane-split through traffic to knock on car windows for any electronics or high-priced items. Sometimes they’ll kill you just because you don’t have anything to give.

The problems don’t stop when it comes to crime. Beyond the perpetual worry for your life, the entire country, is prone to rolling blackouts, a shortage of basic goods and necessities, unbelievably long lines to purchase anything, and apparently insurmountable political gridlock. In 2016, GDP is forecasted to decrease by -8%, inflation is skyrocketing at nearly 500%, and the minimum wage was increased days ago to roughly $13.50 per month.

[…]

During their last visit here, some family members took back the most basic of supplies in order to keep enduring the crisis. These included toilet paper, canned foods, raw beans, rice, and over-the-counter medications like Tums and Aspirin.

Beer has run out in the nation’s largest brewing company, the streets are empty at night as parading gangs of colectivos assault and kill without any obstacles or discretion, and six soldiers were arrested for stealing goats because they didn’t have enough to eat in their army barracks.

To put it simply, the country is falling apart. […]

And the even sadder thing is the writer of the above piece (HuffPo’s Alfredo J. Ramirez), and my Facebook friend Human Rights activist Thor Halvorssen (who is from Venezuela where his mother was born), insist socialism is a great system, even when they look around at Venezuela, Cuba, and even the Western socialist enclaves Thor cites fails to relate how that ‘good’ socialism (non-authoritarian) is also economically falling apart this very day in those countries, even without the oppressive totalitarian ruler(s). He lists adhering to rights and constitutions, etc., but forgets socialism is not based in such individual structures of individual people and their rights, and is only a stepping stone to communism and finally to totalitarianism to control the people and everything within the structure of society. We are seeing it begin in our own country with the “Progressive” measures that have been taken in every aspect of our society in order to breakdown our designated Constitutional representative republic foundation and grow an all-powerful all-consuming centralized government to rule us all. I have respect for Thor and the work he does, but he is just too optimistic still, even in the face of all the living and dead facts and reality of the failed and failing various socialist systems over the past century, and I am disheartened with him. He is not only vocally supporting Bernie Sanders, but has contributed to his campaign. Thor ignores the fact Venezuela’s Pres. Maduro has praised Sanders

So, Thor believes Sanders is the lesser of the three evils. Ugh! What a narrative of how much trouble we are in these days. There is no socialist “Utopia”, and socialism is a miserable slow death of any society.

The Suicide of Venezuela

Maduro in crackdown under Venezuela emergency decree

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced a sweeping crackdown Saturday under a new emergency decree, ordering the seizure of paralyzed factories, the arrest of their owners and military exercises to counter alleged foreign threats.

The embattled leftist is struggling to contain a raging economic crisis that has led to food shortages, soaring prices, riots, looting and vigilante justice, pushing Venezuela to the brink of collapse.

He accused the United States on Friday of destabilizing the country at the behest of the “fascist Venezuelan right,” prompting him to declare a state of emergency.

Addressing his supporters at a rally in central Caracas on Saturday, Maduro announced some of the actions to be taken under the decree, which has not yet been published…

Let that sink in, and then remember what the alleged leader of our country was ‘decreeing’ around that same time. Again, let that sink in. We are supposed to be a nation of checks and balances and separation of powers, and Barack Obama degrees bathroom usage, of all children’s schools, and threatening to withhold federal funds (See: tax payer dollars from those school systems the federal government sank its teething into and sucked from their paychecks) and with other possible punishments. Recall Venezuela’s current and former leader enjoyed decreeing laws/rules/regulations on an instant whim for every little aspect of life in their nation, and upheld them with threats and strangling actions. This is how it begins.

It Is Not About Where People Can and Can’t Relieve Themselves…

Hell, the leftist NYC government recently lifted a law banning going to the bathroom in the NYC streets. It’s not about bathrooms and locker rooms, people. It is about controlling us at every level and injecting fear if we do not submit.

Alexander Guin @ The American Spectator rightfully points out the obvious agenda here. He uses the recent North Carolina case as a sample of what many states are now facing in trying to deal with this leftist agenda to deconstruct and destroy safety and privacy, and states rights to their own laws and regulations without penalty of blackmail and extortion from the federal government. This latest concocted and contrived issue brings to light the extreme hooks the federal government has stabbed into the states, and Americans in general. And as Breitbart writer Warner Todd Houston points out, these schools will also be pressed into adding transgender awareness and sensitivity classes to the public school systems. Indoctrination, pure and simple, and blatant…

We now find ourselves not in a debate about bathrooms but in one about the relationship between the federal government and the states.

The question is: How far are McCrory and legislators willing to go to stand up for North Carolina’s sovereignty? How hard are they willing to fight in order to maintain control over a state-level question with a state-level answer? Transgender rights are not mentioned even in the “emanations of the penumbra” of the U.S. Constitution and are thus left to the states, the laboratories of democracy, to decide.

The hitch is that North Carolina depends on the federal government for nearly half of its annual budget. The $22 billion sum that the feds are threatening is part of an overall state budget closer to $55 billion. This new threat just brings to the forefront a danger that has always lurked in money Washington sends to the states.

Every dollar North Carolina receives from the federal government comes with strings attached. We’ll leave the cost of compliance aside for the time being, but the policy outcomes of accepting federal grants can be devastating. To pick just one example, in 2009, when North Carolina was flat on its back during the recession, bureaucrats in the NC Department of Public Instruction accepted $400 million in federal Race to the Top Grants. The stipulation for accepting the grants, however, was that North Carolina must implement the Common Core curriculum. The results have been disastrous.

The results of backing down from this fight would also be disastrous. This time, however, the physical safety and emotional comfort of vulnerable people is at stake.

Loretta Lynch has perpetrated an unadulterated abuse of federal power, pure and simple. Now it’s time for North Carolina to stand up and defend our sovereignty and protect women and children.

Wake up, America. The leftist vein of this nation has, over these last 8 years, put use all in chains. We are political prisoners in this country. Right now it’s federal funding being used as a punishment. What next?

And to those die-hard liberals defending this latest forced bullshit from the White House and saying our opposition sounds a lot like that of the 1960’s anti-desegregation people, that’s an even bigger steaming mountain of bullshit being shoved in our way of being heard. Shutting down our free speech by calling it racist.
