Well, if you are young, working, and having money taken out of your paycheck going to these programs there is a growing chance none of them will be there for you when you retire and need them. You see, this was the foundation as well for ObamaCare. You youths would pay for the plans that paid for everyone else’s healthcare. It all sounds so Utopian fantastic until you sit down and actually do the real math and the money-follow. “Free” ain’t ever ‘free’, no matter if it is college, healthcare or your future income via the federal government. But every damn election cycle you socialist-minded imbecilic youth-with-a-vote fall for it. Oh yeah, and finally clean the boogies out of your eyes and realize all those amnesty rights and privileges and government entitlements you are always championing means your share of the almighty collective pie continues to become thinner and thinner, and you take a backseat to them as well.

WSJ (pay-side but content grab via Instapundit): Climate Change Has Run Its Course – Its descent into social-justice identity politics is the last gasp of a cause that has lost its vitality.
Climate change is over. No, I’m not saying the climate will not change in the future, or that human influence on the climate is negligible. I mean simply that climate change is no longer a pre-eminent policy issue. All that remains is boilerplate rhetoric from the political class, frivolous nuisance lawsuits, and bureaucratic mandates on behalf of special-interest renewable-energy rent seekers.
Judged by deeds rather than words, most national governments are backing away from forced-marched decarbonization. You can date the arc of climate change as a policy priority from 1988, when highly publicized congressional hearings first elevated the issue, to 2018. President Trump’s ostentatious withdrawal from the Paris Agreement merely ratified a trend long becoming evident.
A good indicator of why climate change as an issue is over can be found early in the text of the Paris Agreement. The “nonbinding” pact declares that climate action must include concern for “gender equality, empowerment of women, and intergenerational equity” as well as “the importance for some of the concept of ‘climate justice.’ ” Another is Sarah Myhre’s address at the most recent meeting of the American Geophysical Union, in which she proclaimed that climate change cannot fully be addressed without also grappling with the misogyny and social injustice that have perpetuated the problem for decades.
The descent of climate change into the abyss of social-justice identity politics represents the last gasp of a cause that has lost its vitality. Climate alarm is like a car alarm—a blaring noise people are tuning out.
Glenn Reynolds: “Well, as I’ve pointed out repeatedly, it also became blindingly obvious that the people who kept telling us it was a crisis weren’t acting like a crisis. They kept their big houses, SUVs full of bodyguards, and private jets. They’re like fervent abolitionists who never got around to freeing their own slaves.”
IBD: Some Inconvenient Truths About Recycling: It has become an article of faith in the U.S. that recycling is a good thing. But evidence is piling up that recycling is a waste of time and money, and a bit of a fraud.
The New York Times recently reported that, unknown to most families who spend hours separating garbage into little recycling bins, much of the stuff ends up in a landfill anyway.
One big reason: China has essentially shut the door to U.S. recyclables.
The Times notes that about a third of recyclables gets shipped abroad, with China the biggest importer. But starting this year, China imposed strict rules on what it will accept, effectively banning most of it. That, the Times reports, has forced many recycling companies who can’t find other takers to dump recyclables into landfills.
One company, Oregon’s Rogue Disposal and Recycling, sent “all its recycling to landfills for the first few months of the year,” the Times reports.
Bloomberg says Massachusetts has issued dozens of landfill waivers so recyclable material can be dumped in them. The Florida Sun Sentinel reports that in Broward County, Fla., up to 30% of the stuff residents put in recycling bins ends up in landfills.
Worse, some local officials aren’t telling residents this for fear that they will give up on recycling altogether.
Even without China’s recycling wall, plenty of “recyclables” end up in landfills, in part because of “single stream” recycling. That’s where residents can put everything in the same bin — a switch designed to encourage more recycling. But it results in more stuff that can’t be recycled because it’s “contaminated.” One study found that about 30% of plastic collected in these “single stream” bins can’t be recycled.
ISLE de JEAN CHARLES, La. — This spit of land in the Gulf of Mexico doesn’t have mansions or any other outward trappings of wealth; indeed, it doesn’t even boast much land anymore. But that makes it a remarkably pricey piece of real estate.
Battered by storms and less buffered from the elements because of vanished barrier islands in the Gulf, the once-thriving Isle de Jean Charles has shrunk to less than 320 acres.
Louisiana, with federal backing, is trying to relocate the roughly 100 people who remain on Isle de Jean Charles, a largely American Indian community wedded to the outdoors bayou lifestyle.
The price tag for the project hovers around $50 million, meaning taxpayers are spending roughly a half million dollars per person for relocation.
These numbers could prove haunting if climate change predictions come true and coastal communities need to flee rising sea levels.
What these climate fanatics refuse to acknowledge is that the Earth is not stagnant. It is constantly changing. Coastlines grow or disappear. Erosion is constant. Look at Hawaii right now. The big island is growing amid the destruction of man’s private property. These climate cultists are fools believing they can hold back the nature they so worship. They seriously believe they can stop the Earth from these scientific changes, and stop our climate at their deemed ideal temperature and weather.
Workers complaining because McDonald’s would not raise their wages might want to start looking for other jobs sooner rather than later: CEO Steve Easterbrook has announced that by 2020, every McDonald’s in the U.S. will be stocked with self-order kiosks.
1,000 stores will get the new kiosks every quarter for the next two years; they already exist in around 3,500 of the roughly 14,000 domestic outlets. Half of the McDonald’s in the United States will feature the kiosks by the end of this year; the locations in Australia, Canada, and the U.K. are running ahead of the American stores.
Seriously, the National Rifle Association needs to send David Hogg, Cameron Kasky, and Emma Gonzalez a gift basket. The more they try to chip away at gun rights, the stronger we become. They can’t win. They won’t win. So, send them a consolation prize. Hogg held a die-in protest at Publix, a Florida-based supermarket chain, last month to protest their donations to pro-NRA Florida gubernatorial candidate Adam Putnam. It was a precursor to this terrific news: May set another record for gun sales. The NICS numbers are the best gauges for tracking such activity, though background checks could have been run for concealed carry permits. Hey, that’s still in support of Second Amendment rights…
When socialist/liberals do racism and sexism it’s a good thing, or something…
