Superb essay by Sultan Knish: ‘The New Civil War’

We are in an existential war for the heart and soul of America, have no doubt.

[…] The choices of this civil war are painfully clear.

We can have a system of government based around the Constitution with democratically elected representatives. Or we can have one based on the ideological principles of the left in which all laws and processes, including elections and the Constitution, are fig leaves for enforcing social justice.

But we cannot have both.

Some civil wars happen when a political conflict can’t be resolved at the political level. The really bad ones happen when an irresolvable political conflict combines with an irresolvable cultural conflict.

That is what we have now.

The left has made it clear that it will not accept the lawful authority of our system of government. It will not accept the outcome of elections. It will not accept these things because they are at odds with its ideology and because they represent the will of large portions of the country whom they despise.

The question is what comes next. […]

  1. I read this good article and I want to spotlight one of the comments under it:

“The issue is never the issue. The issue is the revolution.”
–David Horowitz, quoting unnamed SDS leader.

  2. I could write a book about this topic.
I will repeat here what I very often use to comment:

Newt Gingrich was on a 1994 National Review cruise and he told the cruisers, “If you want to know what the liberals are doing, watch what they are accusing us of.” Ever since then I call liberal accusations of us examples of The Newt Gingrich Syndrome.

Examples? For decades the left helped the communists whenever they could, fought Reagan, even going so far as to do treasonous acts like helping the Sandinistas and playing up to communist leaders. This has gone on even until the Obama administration where Hillary gave tons of nuclear material to Putin and Obama negotiated our anti missiles sites away from key areas of the world to appease – to please – Putin.
Trump wins the presidency and suddenly the left has found its Putin hatred gene.

This is a simple test of the left’s rhetoric and behavior. Watch the left excoriate our side for our destructive rhetoric even as every word they say is full of invective and generalizations like The Tea Party is a bunch of racists,. bigots, homophobes, etc.

Watch the left use terms like wanting to starve grandma or impoverish Americans or offer affordable healthcare to all even as it is they who are doing all of these things themselves, destroying our healthcare system, etc.

Watch the left talk about conservatives taking away our rights even as it is they…

    You get the picture.

It is all The Newt Gingrich Syndrome.
