See what happens when you give people who call everyone Nazis the license to punch Nazis? They wind up hurting non-Nazis.

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
Well, scratch that and replace it with: “Not only do I refuse to hear you say anything, but I will not allow anyone else to hear you because I forbid you from speaking under the threat of violence and possible death!”
No, seriously. I’m fucking serious about my revision ^^^ to the old standard regarding free speech in this country. I mean, it really is not hard to believe given these sort of stats: 40% of Millennials OK with limiting speech offensive to minorities … The biggest problem with their rationalization is the fact that anything deemed “offensive” (much like designation of pornography arguments of old) is left up to the vague standards of somebody else at any given time. Hence, our ideology of free speech as long as it is not inciting violence … and right now the violence is definitely coming from those forbidding the exercise of free speech. You see, our Founding Fathers did not make free speech our First Amendment right for no particular reason. They put it at the top to protect our ability to speak, even when it’s not popular. That’s why it is followed by the Second Amendment to protect it, and us, from tyranny and fascism that would silence speech it doesn’t agree with or want to hear and doesn’t want to hear, but is determined to forbid it from ever being spoken.
Remember those toddlers you saw throwing loud and violent temper tantrums in the middle of the store aisles? Well, they’ve grown up … physically. Mentally they are completely stunted. And emotionally they’ve gotten bigger, all right, but not mature.
Mark Steyn was sitting in for Rush Limbaugh yesterday on the radio program gave one of his stellar observations about the mess that went down at Middlebury College but I don’t see it in the Limbaugh archives. Steyn pointed out the professor injured is a middle-aged, white female. (Probably somebody that may have, or might have wanted to, march on Women’s day with pink pussy hats and vagina costumes.) However, here is an offering in background info from HotAir:
We’re getting closer to the inevitable moment when someone is literally murdered on an American campus because a right-winger tried to speak.
As [Professor Allison] Stanger, Murray and a college administrator left McCullough Student Center last evening following the event, they were “physically and violently confronted by a group of protestors,” according to Bill Burger, the college’s vice president for communications and marketing.
Burger said college public safety officers managed to get Stanger and Murray into the administrator’s car.
“The protestors then violently set upon the car, rocking it, pounding on it, jumping on and try to prevent it from leaving campus,” he said. “At one point a large traffic sign was thrown in front of the car. Public Safety officers were able, finally, to clear the way to allow the vehicle to leave campus.
“During this confrontation outside McCullough, one of the demonstrators pulled Prof. Stanger’s hair and twisted her neck,” Burger continued. “She was attended to at Porter Hospital later and (on Friday) is wearing a neck brace.”
The “event” mentioned in the first paragraph was actually the second attempt yesterday afternoon to let Murray speak. The first attempt was with a live audience, but watch the clips below (he appears onstage at 19:00 of the first one) to see how that went. The protest goes on for fully 20 minutes before Murray gives up. Middlebury officials warned the crowd beforehand that they could protest but not disrupt the speech, but “the students ignored those reminders and faced no visible consequences for doing so.”
You see, these are the campus leftist ilk that demand “tolerance” and “acceptance” and a right to be heard. Except that their idea of such means you shut the fuck up! You must not be heard! You must be silenced by any means possible! And as we saw at U.C. Berkeley not long ago when gay conservative libertarian Milo was to speak, they rioted and beat people and burned property. And more recently this event on the Middlebury campus…
Thomas Sowell @ Townhall: The Real Lessons of Middlebury College
The moral dry rot in academia — and beyond — goes far deeper than student storm troopers at one college.
Academia, however, is ground zero in the war against people whose ideas go against the current political correctness. The virtual monopoly of the political left, on campuses across the country, allows all sorts of things to be attributed to people the left disagrees with, irrespective of whether those people have ever said anything resembling what they are alleged to have said.
The professors don’t usually riot against people whose ideas they disagree with, because they can just dismiss those ideas, with some characterization that there is no one on hand to challenge.
… The central tragedy of academia today is that you don’t have to have anything on which to base dismissals of people and ideas you disagree with.
Why should we expect students to welcome debate about differences of opinion, when so many of their professors seem to think cheap shot dismissals are all you need? Lacking their professors’ verbal dexterity or aura of authority, students use cruder methods of dismissing things they disagree with.
So long as academia talks demographic “diversity” and practices groupthink when it comes to ideas, we have little reason to expect better of student mobs that riot with impunity.
Apparently a writer at Slate agrees with these unhinged lawless campus fascists…
This butternut’s thinking just justified every “man’s inhumanity to man” action done throughout human history and decimated this nation’s highly coveted First Amendment.
Universities and college campuses used to be a place of debate and exchanging ideas, no matter if you agreed with them or not. However, that aspect of college is gone forever. And the liberal/leftist professors, who today are troubled and even afraid of these mindless hive-think thugs, have only themselves to blame. Did you seriously believe this crocodile would eat you last, you six-figure tenured gripers and creeps?
Dennis Prager echoes Thomas Sowell: Some on the Left Now Criticize the Students They Created
In the last few weeks, there has been a spate of columns by writers on the left condemning the left-wing college students who riot, take over university buildings and shout down speakers with whom they differ.
These condemnations, coming about 50 years too late, should not be taken seriously.
Here’s the problem:
It is the left that transformed universities into the moral and intellectual wastelands most are now.
It is the left that created the moral monsters known as left-wing students who do not believe in free speech, let alone tolerance.
It is the left that has taught generations of young Americans that America is essentially a despicable society that is racist and xenophobic to its core.
It is the left that came up with the lie that the university has been overrun by a “culture of rape.”
It is the left that taught generations of Americans that everyone on the right is sexist, intolerant, xenophobic, homophobic, racist and bigoted.
It is the left that is anti-intellectual, teaching students to substitute feelings for reason.
It is the left that removed the portrait of Shakespeare hanging in the English department of the University of Pennsylvania because Shakespeare is a white male, thereby teaching college students that art is not measured by excellence or by the pursuit of truth but by race, gender and class.
It is the left that has transformed the Founding Fathers of the United States from great men who created the freest and most affluent society in human society into rich racist white males who created a racist, colonialist, imperialist, women-hating, foreigner-hating, non-white-hating society.
Why would students want to allow people who engage in “eliminationist rhetoric” to speak on their campus?
And what about all the leftists who routinely use the word “resistance,” a word connoting a battle against Nazi-like tyranny, instead of the usual word “opposition” to denote political disagreement? What should students conclude about that? Isn’t rioting a legitimate form of “resistance” when a representative of “tyranny” comes to campus?
After this half-century of left-wing teaching and hateful rhetoric, the tears of the Frank Brunis and others on the left mean nothing. Their leftist thinking spawned this catastrophe. Until they take responsibility for it, they are not to be taken seriously.
The Left Can’t Stop Campus Riots Like Middlebury’s Because Their Ideology Deserves Blame: Liberals need to appreciate the dangers posed by a radical movement that rejects the principles of intellectual freedom and freedom of expression.
The fact remains, we are in an era of insanity. Logic and reason are extinct. Free thought is forbidden and under attack. Campuses have become a den of lower education, closed minds, low-intellect, censorship, aggression, brutality, incivility, liberal/leftist racism/bigotry, and a fucking waste of student loan money.
Our college campuses are the 21st century construction sites of a destruction movement building a Tower of Babel that has spilled out into all aspects of our lives…
