Sen. Thom Tillis (RINO – NC) won re-election in November and has written his thoughts on the GOP victories: Voters didn’t give Republicans a mandate
Since the election, I’ve heard some of my fellow Republicans claim that the party received a decisive mandate from voters.
Let’s be clear: the American people didn’t give the GOP a stamp of approval or a mandate to ram through an ideologically-driven, far-right agenda. If the election was a mandate for anything, it was for elected officials in both parties to break through the gridlock to finally start producing results.
Sen. Tillis, why is it whenever republicans win, not only full control of the Congress and the White House, but clearly decisive wins all the way down ballot, it’s NOT a “mandate” from the voters for the GOP? No, they want both parties to ‘work together’.
But when democrats win control in Washington DC by the slimmest of margins “the American people have given democrats and Obama a mandate and say Capitalism is broken and the American people want socialism…”, so, the democrats shove it down our throats? As we saw the dems practice 7 years ago by ramming through ObamaCare which, along with Obama’s agenda and Hillary’s plan to increase it, was resoundingly rejected this past November’s elections.
You bet your future primaried ass the GOP now has a mandate.
